“It all began on February 17, 1993, when Kent Taylor opened the first Texas Roadhouse in Clarksville, Indiana.  Kent’s goal was to own not just a family restaurant and not just a steak restaurant, but a place where everyone, of all ages, could come and have a great meal and great fun for a great price.”

We had decided to give Texas Roadhouse in Florence a try.  I have been there once before a long time ago.  So, we went on a Saturday Night at around 6:00 PM.  The wait time was an hour, so we went somewhere else.  We tried again the next Saturday at 4:00PM and were able to get in.  The restaurant was still pretty crowded.  We sat and began looking over the menu.

Texas Roadhouse has peanuts on the tables for their guest.  A bowl of rolls was quickly brought to our table.  The menu is plentiful.  There are several appetizers available as well as many entrees to choose from.  I decided on the Sirloin and Barbeque Grilled Chicken with Corn and Chili.  My guest ordered the Chicken Tender Salad.

My Chili was brought first.  After taking the first bite, I knew I was going to like this.  I like thick Chili which is why I am not a fan of Wendy’s Chili.  The Texas Roadhouse Chili was very thick.  There was plenty of meat along with beans, the way it should be.  It has a slight hint of a sweet taste that I could not place, but I liked it.  It had a pile of shredded cheese on top of it that was a nice touch.

Our food came soon after getting my Chili.  My guest said that their salad was good.  My Sirloin was cooked just as I ordered it.  Done but still with flavor.  The Grilled Chicken was covered in a smoky barbeque sauce.  Before it was over, I was dipping the steak into the barbeque sauce.  I really enjoyed the meal.

Even though the restaurant was crowded, the noise level was not bad.  I was able to carry on a normal conversation with my guest.  When we left there was already a wait line outside for people to be seated.   So with careful thought, we will give Texas Roadhouse in Florence, Alabama, 4 Cheese Sticks out of 5.
