Terri Michelle (Tubbs) Joiner, of Oakman, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026 at the age of 64. She was deeply loved by all her family and friends.
Mrs. Joiner is preceded in death by her Mother, Betty Lou Tubbs; Father, Mitchell Tubbs; and Brother, Joel Mitchell Tubbs.
She is survived by her husband, Andy; her son Drew Joiner and his wife Katrina; her daughter, Danielle Irby and her husband Glenn; and her granddaughter, Lucy Lee Irby.
Terri was born in Townley, Alabama in 1962, and attended school locally in Walker County. She went on to college in 1980 where she graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education in 1983. Terri taught for 20 years in Carbon Hill, Alabama, Londonderry, New Hampshire and Curry, Alabama. At each school, Terri was a beloved teacher and sought after by parents and students alike for her kindness, love and outstanding abilities as an educator. Terri retired from teaching to focus all of her love and attention on making her two children’s dreams come true. Terri’s favorite seat was on the baseball field watching her son play, or backstage cheering on her daughter as she danced. Terri looked forward to decorating for every holiday, making them absolutely magical. She loved traveling and making memories with her family. Terri had a special place in her heart for teacup yorkshire terriers. Terri’s first grandchild, Lucy, recently born to Danielle and Glenn, brought new light and love to Terri’s life. She remains deeply loved by her family, and will be forever cherished in their memory.
The family will receive friends at 9:00 AM on Friday, July 3rd, 2026 at Collins Burke Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 AM in the Collins Burke Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Pleasant-Hill Cemetery in Townley, Alabama.
The family asks that In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Terri’s mother.
