Teresa Young Teresa Young, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, with her loving daughter, Melanie, by her side. She was born September 9, 1956 to Melvin and Nellie Porter.

Teresa loved cooking, dancing, laughing, getting dressed up, and spending time with her grandchildren. She touched the lives of many with her tender heart and caring spirit. Her love and light will never be forgotten.

Teresa lived a life filled with love, kindness, and generosity. She was known for her warm smile, her smiling eyes, and her caring spirit. “Mama Tee” to her family and friends, was truly precious and will be deeply missed.

Above all, Teresa’s legacy is one of love. She will be remembered always and cherished forever in the hearts of those who knew her.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 3 p.m. CST at Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. hour of service. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor our beautiful “Mama Tee.” While flowers and prayers are deeply appreciated, donations can also be made to the Dementia Society of America in her memory.

She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Lockett and Angela Vera; her granddaughter Taylor, grandsons Dillan, D’Malachi, and Justin; her great-grandchildren Tatum, Marley, Alistier, Amerynn, Sawyer, Greyson, Sophia, and Brently; her sister Arthell Johnson; sister-in-law Betty Porter; and a whole slew of loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Nellie Porter, her sisters Wanda Daniels and Evelyn Tishaw, her brothers Leon, Wendel, and Therman “Cotton” Porter; and her grandsons Cody Simpson and Cory Simpson.

Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of services.
