 Ted Stephen Thompson, 71 of Center Star died Sunday, March 31, 2019 at NAMC.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Elkins East at 4-6 P.M. A Memorial Service will follow at 6 P.M. in the Chapel.

Ted was a 1965 graduate of Lauderdale County High School. He later began working at The US Army Corps of Engineers. During his tenure at Wilson Lock/Florence Repair Station, he served many roles he was proud to claim. He started out as a Laborer, then became a Diver, Diver Supervisor, Foreman, and finally Chief of the Florence Repair Party.  He recalled happy memories with much laughter of the times he had with the friends he made throughout the years. He loved the water and had a great knowledge of all the Locks and Dams along the Tennessee Waterway.

His passion was cattle farming and playing music with his family, and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Blanche Thompson; siblings Betty, JoAnn, Charles, Jack, and Lavenia; grandson Thomas Brooks Stephens, III; nephews Mitch and Tommy Thompson.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary Keith Thompson, daughters Joni Cook (Jim), Anita Smith (Charles Linebarger), Julie Willis (Collin); grandchildren Emily Katherine Stephens, Benjamin Smith, Audrey Burnett (Justin), Angela Smith, Ashley Roberson (Nathan Williams), Grace Roberson, Addison Willis; great grandchildren Levi, Paislee, and Anniston Smith; brother Johnny Thompson (Bobbie), sister-in-law Vonda Thompson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Honorary Pall Bearers are Employees Past and Present of the Florence Repair Party, special friends and classmates.
