Talmage Lawrence Stegall, 92, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at NMMC in Tupelo, going to be with his Lord and Savior. Born on June 26, 1933, in Pontotoc, MS, to Lawrence and Agnes Stegall, he was a devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. A retired logger, farmer, and cattleman, he later enjoyed growing vegetables to sell at the Pontotoc court square. Known for his strong work ethic, he was still cutting firewood at 92 and loved sharing stories from his past with everyone.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ruby Stegall; his daughters, Sherry Parker and Lisa McGregor; his grandchildren, Michael Parker (Leslie), Caleb McGregor, and Haley Noah (Matthew); his great-grandson, Matthew Parker; his sisters-in-law, Freddie Stegall, Carolyn Tutor, Martha Andresen (Andy), and Linda Poe; his brother-in-law, Henry Terry; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerry Porter Stegall (Pauline) and Billy Joe Stegall; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Moore (Marvin), Polly Ann McMillen (Charles Wayne), and Patsy Ann Terry; sister-in-law, Jeanette Beasley (Joe); and brothers-in-law, James Poe, Gary Poe, and Billy Tutor.
Services will be at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 2PM with Rev. Fred Hartley officiating. Visitation will begin at 12PM and continue to service time. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
