TUSCUMBIA-The Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation will hold its Spring Quarterly Membership Meeting on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Helen Keller Public Library Conference Room, on Main St., in Tuscumbia.
The program speaker will be Lanny J. Perry, Chairman of the CCHLF. His program will be on “The History of The Historic Winston
Cemetery” in Sheffield.
Following the program, brief business meeting, and refreshments, there will be a Tour of The Winston Cemetery. The cemetery is located off Hook St., and intersection of West Montgomery Ave, at East corner of SW 7th St. & SW 14th Ave., Sheffield.
The Winston family were early prominent settlers of North, and NW Alabama, and settled here in the Tuscumbia and Sheffield (York’s Bluff) area circa 1818-1819.
Well known family names associated with burials at the Winston Cemetery include some renown in local, and American History.

Lanny J. Perry
Lanny has conducted extensive research on the Winston family, using sources from a variety of family related documents, and other publications.
Chairman Perry received an AA Degree in 1978, and an AS Degree in 1980. He received a BA Degree from Eastern New Mexico University (with honors) in 1982, and a MS Degree in Human Resource Management in 1984, from Chapman College, Orange, CA.
He was an adjunct instructor for the University of Alaska from 1984-1985, and for Louisiana State University at Eunice, from 1987-1989.
