Sylvia Webb Becton Sylvia Webb Becton, 90, of Anniston passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021. Born in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Hamer W. and Addie Blanton Webb, where she attended Valdosta City Schools in Valdosta, Georgia. In the 1950’s, Mrs. Becton worked in the dental field. Later she began a career working for Dr. George Gibbons in his ophthalmology office. Mrs. Becton was a faithful member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, was a selfless person and a devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Becton was also a lover of antiques. We feel sure her mansion in heaven will be beautiful because everything she touched turned to beauty. Survivors include her daughters, Carol Becton van Elkan of Anniston, and Jan Becton Miller of Birmingham; one sister and brother in law, Mary Jane and Philip L. Davis of Valdosta; grandchildren, Will Couch of Washington, D.C., Wes Couch (Julie) of Anniston, Eric van Elkan, Jr. (Casey) of Birmingham, Katherine van Elkan Beatty (Mark) of Birmingham, Jody Miller (Kristin) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Caudill Miller (Jamie Grace) of Atlanta, Georgia, Rachel Weizenecker (Philip) of Lynchburg, Virginia, and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her brother Ponder Webb and sister Marjorie Dees both of Valdosta, Georgia. Before Billy Graham passed away he said “One day you will read that I have died, but don’t believe it because I will be more alive than I have ever been.” So it shall be also for our mother, grandmother, sister and friend. There will be a private graveside service for family members in Valdosta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parker Memorial Church in Anniston, Alabama.
