F 12.21.18 Sylas Hardin.jpgSylas Labon Hardin, age 10, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

Sylas was a fourth grade student at Phil Campbell Elementary, where he excelled in making straight A’s and he was in the top of his class. He loved learning and would want to go to school during the summer months and all of his teachers just loved him. He was the most amazing child, with an amazing mind, and a memory that never forgot anything. He was well disciplined, never fussed or complained, and loved everyone he came in contact with. One thing will most be remembered is his love for his family and hugging everyone. Life was sweeter because Sylas was in the world.

The visitation 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Spry Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Franklin Memory Gardens with Brother Lonnie Oldag and Brother Larson Plylar officiating.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, James Hardin, Lavelle Hardin, Labon Donahue, and Polly Donahue.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his grandparents, Phillip and Donna Hardin; father, Scott Hardin (Amber); mother, Dee Ann Barton; half-siblings, Soren Barton, Samuel Barton, Deelylah Hill; aunt, Kristi Daniel (husband, Scott); cousins, Bailey Rose, Jacob Daniel, Justin Rose (wife, Sarah) and son, Bentley, Dr. Brittney Burgett (husband, Dr. Alex Burgett) and son, Bowen; grandfather, Don Barton (Patsy); grandmother, Sharon Mashburn Barton; aunt, Rebecca Barton; great-uncle, Tommy Mashburn (Cindy); great-aunt, Joyce Mathis, great-uncle, Gary Hardin (wife, Renea); aunts, Linda Kenney (Danny), Kay Livingston (Dixon), Patti Bendall (Steve), Pam Rea (Bucky), Candice Bretherick; and a host of cousins and friends.

The pallbearers will be Gerald Leindecker, Ty Leindecker, Colby Cox, Dwight Gilbert, Lucas Gilbert, and Mike Madden.

Because of Sylas’s love for school and learning, the family asks that you consider in lieu of flowers, make a memorial to the Sylas Hardin Memorial Scholarship Fund. Donations may be mailed to Franklin County Board of Education, PO Box 610, Russellville, AL 35653.
