Sybil Prestage Wilburn, 92, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Darlington Oaks Hospice in Verona. She was born April 14, 1922, in Itawamba County to Benjamin and Troy Prestage. She attended the Mantachie Consolidated Public School in 1939. She married Thomas R. Wilburn and lived in Memphis for 20 years. In 1975 she returned to Mantachie and lived the remainder of her life in the home they built in 1944. She loved books, crocheting, tatting, quilting, and knitting.
Services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday, March 3, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with the Rev. Curtis Shelton officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Wilburn Stancil of Mantachie; a son-in-law, Allen Stancil of the Ozark community; four grandchildren, Samantha (Mark) Bereton of Rome, GA, Destry Allen (Dana) Stancil of Mantachie, Randy (Kellie) Wilburn of Minnesota, and Cindi (Joe) Burgett of Bailey, CO; eight great-grandchildren, Devin K. Pitts, Shey Stancil, Olivia Grace Pitts, Morgan Wilburn, Erin Wilburn, Ellie Burgett, Joleigh Burgett, and Coby Burgett; one sister, Alma Grissom of Mantachie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas R. Wilburn; her son, Lonnie Aaron Wilburn; and a grandson, Robbie Wilburn.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home in Mantachie.
