FLORENCE-Florence/Lauderdale Tourism and Crazy Chester Records will present the Swamp Fest 2015 Songwriters Series during this year’s W. C. Handy Festival.
Several famous Shoals songwriters and entertainers from the past and present will perform in the Gallery of the Florence/Lauderdale Tourism Office & Visitor Center, located in McFarland Park in Florence, on four dates during the Handy Festival — July 17, 18, 24 and 25. Each show, from 3-5 pm, will feature different performers and a different theme.
The lineup is as follows:
July 17 – Songwriters Showcase Series #1: Swamp Songs
Featuring Donnie Fritts, Scott Boyer, N.C. Thurman
July 18 – Songwriters Showcase Series #2: The Muscle Shoals/Nashville Connection
Featuring Mark Narmore, Walt Aldridge, Donny Lowery
* In addition, the Robin Wade Furniture Exhibit will be from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.*
July 24 – Songwriters Showcase Series #3: Muscle Shoals Songwriters Showcase Reunion
Featuring Mickey Buckins, Jerry McGee, Max Russell, Andreas Werner plus special guests
July 25 – Songwriters Showcase Series #4: 21st Century Muscle Shoals Sound
Featuring Russell Mefford, Mitch Mann, Andreas Werner, Jimmy Nutt
