Suzanne Johnson Scroggins, known affectionately as “Sissy,” passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016. Her loving husband Derrell was by her side.
The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Elkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Sparkman officiating. A time of visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Sissy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Florence and a retired teacher of the Florence City School system. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Scroggins; a brother, Dr. Lloyd Johnson Jr.; and parents, Lloyd and Mary Sue Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Derrell Scroggins; a daughter, Mary Sue Scroggins Ridgway and husband, Alan, of Birmingham; grandchildren, Alan Ridgway Jr., Derrell Sid Ridgway, and Melissa Suzanne Ridgway; sister-in-law, Joan Johnson; and nieces and nephews.
Members of the family will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and especially caregiver Robbie Wilks for the care given to Sissy during her illness.
