Memorial service for Rev. Suzanne Harris Pruitt, 73, of Decatur, will be Saturday, June 21, 2025, at The Church at Stone River at 11:00 AM with Rev. Sandra Locke-Godbey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Inurnment will be at Trinity United Methodist Church Columbarium in Birmingham Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Andrew Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be at the Church at Stone River in Decatur from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, June 20, 2025. All who attend are asked to wear anything colorful.
Rev. Pruitt passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at her residence. She was born October 13, 1951, in North Carolina, to William David Harris and Anne Elliott Parrish Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother- Stephen Harris.
Survivors include: two daughters- Kimberly Pruitt and Lindsey Walden (Jonathon), a sister – Linda Jobe (Bob), her Grandchildren – Addison and Landon Walden and nieces and nephews.
Suzanne was a junior high, high school, and college cheerleader. She was also an honor roll student and graduated college Magna Cum Laude.
Suzanne was a secondary Home Economics and Science teacher for the first 10 years of her career. She felt a calling to serve the church as a Christian Educator in Conway, SC at Trinity UMC. She served at Grace UMC in Bluefield, WV and then Wesley Memorial UMC in Decatur, AL where she felt God calling her to become a Diaconal Minister and then again to become a Deacon in 1999. She also served at St. Mark UMC in Seneca, SC and then Trinity UMC in Birmingham for the last 10 years of her ministry. After her retirement following 33 years in ministry, she served as the Care and Visitation Pastor for Church at Stone River in Decatur, Alabama.
Suzanne led a life honoring God and helping lead others to know His love. Throughout her life she made an impact on countless people, leaving her fingerprint on the hearts of so many along the way. She loved her family dearly and absolutely cherished her role as “Nana” to Addison and Landon. Suzanne loved the beach and always felt closest to God there. She was a 10 year old girl when she found Jesus and on June 16, 2025, she passed peacefully surrounded by love into the loving arms of Jesus. She told her girls when the time came, she would run as fast as she could to Him.
