Suspect Wanted On Outstanding Warrants Led Florence Police On Foot Chase

FLORENCE-On July 9, 2024 COPS Unit Officer Smith observed

Lavale Cooper

walking on Woodard Ave.

Officer Smith recognized Cooper and knew he had outstanding warrants. When Officer Smith approached Cooper, he fled. Officers attempted to tase Cooper, but it was ineffective, and he continued to flee. Multiple officers and detectives arrived to assist, utilizing a drone and K9 to track Cooper to the 200 block of South Main Street.
Officer Risener located Lavale hiding behind a shed in a thick patch of tall bamboo. Lavale jumped out of the bamboo and tried to run again but was apprehended.
Lavale was charged with resisting arrest, attempting to elude and his outstanding warrants.
Lavale Cooper is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
