JACKSON COUNTY-On Monday, December 16 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect on Sexual Abuse Charges against a minor:
“On Friday December 13, 2019 deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call reference the sexual assault of a 12 year old female.
An investigation was conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Patrol Deputies with assistance from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED ) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Forces. Based on this investigation, on Saturday December 14, 2019, Stephen Fredrick Ott, age 50 of Bryant, Alabama was arrested and charged with the crimes of Rape 1st degree, Sodomy 2nd degree, and Production of Pornography With Minors ( 32 counts )
The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are expected.
Ott is currently in the Jackson County Jail and bond has not yet been set.”
