ATHENS-The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 18-year-old Sheldyn Jamyson Hobbs Jr. of Athens, Alabama, in connection with a shooting that occurred late Sunday night.
On the evening of July 6, 2025, deputies responded to a call in the 12000 block of Dickens Lane, where a victim had been shot while sitting inside a vehicle. The victim sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital for emergency
treatment. Investigators immediately began working the case and identified Sheldyn Hobbs Jr. as a suspect in the shooting.

Investigators immediately began working the case and identified Sheldyn Hobbs Jr. as a suspect in the shooting.On Monday morning, July 7, 2025, investigators located Hobbs’ vehicle in the vicinity and established a secure perimeter for surveillance. At approximately 11:20 a.m., Hobbs was observed exiting a residence and entering his vehicle. Investigators initiated a traffic stop and took him into custody without incident.
A search warrant was executed at the residence, and based on evidence collected, Hobbs has been charged with Attempted Murder and Shooting Into an Occupied Vehicle. The judge has not yet set bond.
The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office believes this to be an isolated incident stemming from a previous altercation and assures the public there is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
