SOMERVILLE-The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department released a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect who has been charged with several charges including Endangering Welfare of a Child after a routine traffic stop:

“Around 11:00pm on July 15, 2021, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Somerville area for a possible DUI. Deputies made contact with the driver Kayla Danielle Womack, 21 of Union Grove.

While speaking with the driver, she stated that she was trying to get back home to her 1 year old and 2 year old children that she left home alone in Marshall County a few hours earlier.

Sgt Jones contacted the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and met Marshall County Lt. Sorrell at the home. They made entry through an unsecured door and found the unattended children asleep.

DHR was contacted and took custody of the children.

Womack was charged with DUI in Morgan County, transported to and booked in the Morgan County Jail. On Friday evening she was released and transported to Morgan County to face Endangering Welfare of a Child charges.

Arrests are public information. Any indication of an individual’s arrest does not imply they have been convicted of a crime. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
