Susan Rodgers McClendon (Bebe)(Mrs. Mac), of Decatur passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Decatur Morgan Hospital at the age of 76.Bebe is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Charles “Chuck” McClendon; daughters, Elizabeth “Beth” McClendon of Decatur, AL and Rebecca “Becki” James (husband Tony) of Decatur, AL; grandchildren, Charles Pierce McClendon (25) of Corvallis, OR, Carli Elizabeth Massey (24) of Atlanta, GA, Hunter Elijah James (24) of Decatur, AL, and Logan Isiah James (21) of Decatur, AL; brothers, Jeff Rodgers of Decatur, AL and Joe Rodgers (Wife Kathy) of Foley, AL, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and an army of LaPetite & Parkview Baptist Mother’s Day Out children that she taught in her role as Teacher and Director.
She is preceded in death by her father, James “Claude” Rodgers; mother, Laurice “Jean” Rodgers and brothers, James Claude (Jim) Rodgers Jr. and Jay Rodgers.
Susan was born on June 27, 1950, in Decatur, Alabama and graduated from Decatur High School in 1968. She was the devoted wife of a career soldier/guardsman, a member of Parkview Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 15 Auxiliary. She loved to travel with Alaska and Hawaii being her favorite destinations.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and the deep love she had for her family and friends. Bebe never met a stranger; anyone who crossed her path quickly became a friend. She devoted countless hours to serving others through her involvement with the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, as well as her many years with the Jayceettes and Pilot Club.
Bebe had a creative spirit and found joy in crafting and painting. She was always willing to volunteer wherever she was needed and gave freely of her time, talents, and love. Above all, she will be remembered for her heart of pure gold, the kindness she extended to everyone around her, and, of course, her shiny princess crown—a fitting reflection of the joy and personality she carried throughout her life.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. The celebration of life service will be on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the funeral homewith the Reverend John Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Cemetery immediately after the service.
Pallbearers will be Joe Rodgers, Jeff Rodgers, Pierce McClendon, Tony James, Hunter James, and Logan James. Honorary pallbearers will be Post 15 American Legion Riders.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Susan’s name be made to Hands Across Decatur or the charity of your choice.
