Susan McDonald Pollard, 71, of Fort Payne, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021. She was born December 13, 1949 to the late James Hale McDonald and Johnnie Ruth Owens McDonald. She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Mrs. Pollard graduated from the University of Alabama with a Masters degree in Education and taught elementary school for over 33 years. She continued to volunteer at the school reading and playing games with the children. She enjoyed serving at the Bread of Life ministry and had an exceptionally generous heart.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walkers Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Morgan officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 303 9th Street NW, Fort Payne, AL 35967.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth “Bud” Pollard; daughter Hayley Vandenhuerk Odom and husband Mark; step-son Kenneth Pollard, Jr.; grandchildren Carlie, Ellie, and Cole; sister Elaine Overstreet and husband Alex; niece Jamie St. Clair and husband Eric; great-niece Maeve St. Clair; and special caregiver Melissa Kerley.
