Susan Hughes – Obituary

Susan Hughes passed away peacefully on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Hughes; her father, James G. Sidick; and her mother, Rosamond L. Sidick. She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Hughes Hill, and son-in-law, Jacob Hill, of Smiths Station, AL; her many extended family members in Adams and Franklin counties, MS and Orlando, FL; as well cherished friends, including her dear friend, Mary Higginbotham of Huntsville.

Susan (Suzie) was born in Grosse Pointe, MI but moved to Huntsville with her parents at an early age, where she lived the majority of her life. She attended the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!), where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work. She worked in the mental heath field for 30+ years, making a difference in the lives of countless individuals. She was a loving mother, a devoted friend, and an incomparable woman. She will be remembered always for her sense of humor, caring heart, and strength of will.

Services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, October 15, 2018 at her longtime church, St. St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 12200 Bailey Cove Rd. in Huntsville. Rev. Katherine Harper will officiate.

The family would also like to give their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses in CCU1 at Huntsville Hospital, for their kind and supportive care
