Susan Como Riddle – Obituary

Susan Como Riddle passed away peacefully on June 28, 2018 with family members at her bedside. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Como and Josephine Monte Como, and by a brother, Vincent Como. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Rex Riddle; children, Dr. Greg Riddle (Suzanne), Denise Schiber (Lawrence), and Mark Riddle (Joanne); grandchildren, Ian Riddle, Trey Schiber, Savannah Riddle, and Hadleigh Riddle; sister, Josephine Palmer; and special friends, Jeanette Easton, Dianne Lewis, and Joan Rehage.

Susan taught school before starting a family and later at age 40 received a second BS degree in Mathematics from UAH. Her first degree was in Chemistry from Samford University. She retired in 2001 from United Space Alliance as a Materials Engineer.

Susan was very gifted in sewing, ceramics, knitting, water color painting, teaching, and playing tennis. She was once ranked in Alabama for her age group. She taught tennis at UAH and Madison Recreation Center. A member of the Church of Nativity for over 40 years, she served on the vestry and taught Sunday school.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Nativity.  The funeral service will follow at 10 at the church with the Rev. Bonnie McCrickard officiating.  Burial will be in Low Gap Cemetery in Odenville, AL. (www.laughlinservice.com)
