Susan Chasey Scott, 67 of Tuscumbia, died Thursday, August 1, 2013. Visitation for Mrs. Scott will be Monday, August 5, 2013 at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church in Tuscumbia at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Randy Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Tuscumbia.
Mrs. Scott was born in DeRidder, Louisiana on April 15, 1946, raised her family in Mobile and spent several years in Ohio before settling in Tuscumbia. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio; was a realtor at Praytor Realty in Mobile; she was the Assistant Registrar at Wilmington College and then Registrar at Chatfield College in St. Martin, Ohio. Mrs. Scott retired as a Financial Aid Specialist from Northwest Shoals Community College in Muscle Shoals.
She was a member of the Coffee Group, the Cosmopolitan Study Club, the Supper Club, the Cabaret Supper Club and the First Presbyterian Church in Tuscumbia.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Scott and parents, Lawrence Earl and Clayton Love Chasey.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Josh Vacik, Dr. Wesley Desselle and Dr. Larry Stutts.
Mrs. Scott is survived by her daughters, Loee Sonnier Miree, Florence, Chantelle Sonnier Vallely, Atlanta, GA, and Stephanie Michelle Sonnier, Mobile; sons, Steven Milton Scott, Iowa and Bradley Richard Scott, California; brothers, Allen James Chasey, Iowa, LA and Lawrence Clayton Chasey, Singer, LA; grandchildren, Ansley and Kate Vallely, Atlanta, GA, Mary Clayton and Chasey Miree, Florence, Christopher and Annie Scott, Redlands, CA and Ian and Lindsay Scott, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
