Mrs. Sula Davis Bailey, age 93, of Florence, AL, died Saturday, September 7, 2013. Visitation was last evening at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be today, September 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Brother Tom Phillips and Brother Chris Underwood.
Sula was a member of Highland Baptist Church of Florence for 62 years. She was truly an example of a Christian woman and was a role model for her entire family and her many friends.
She was a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout leader, and a kindergarten teacher. She retired after 25 years first as a teacher and then later as Director of Maud Lindsay Free Kindergarten.
Mrs. Bailey is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hassel Bailey; parents, Reason and Mamie Davis , and sisters, Carrie Moore and Sibbie Houston.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Walden(Pete); and son Johnny Bailey(Janet), both of Killen; five grandchildren, Beth Walden Britton(Rob) of Atlanta, Deborah Walden(Toby Ball) of Durham, NH., Kelly Walden, and John Bailey both of Killen, and Jennifer Bailey Stokes(Jeff) of Spanish Fort; and seven great-grandchildren, Robert and Sam Britton, Jake and Sadie ball, Chandler and Bailey Walden, and Evelynn Stokes.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Kelly Walden and John Bailey; Grandsons-in-law Rob Britton and Jeff Stokes; Great grandsons Robert and Sam Britton, and Chandler Walden; and long- time friend Joe Rhodes.
Honorary pallbearers will include grandson-in-law Toby Ball, great- grandson Jake Ball, Dr. Bradley Cavender, and Dr. Felix Morris.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Sula’s caregivers, Angie Harvey, Laura Haynes, Jane Johnson, and Reeda Narmore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maud Lindsay Free Kindergarten, 1802 Cole Ave. Florence, AL. 35630.
