Sue Nell MitchellSue Nell Mitchell, age 83, of Russellville, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at her residence.

Sue Nell was a longtime member of Tharptown Baptist Church.  She loved her family like no other one.  She was always warm and hospitable when you visited, always making sure you ate something while you were there.  She was a work-a-holic and thought everyone else should be as well.  She enjoyed her flowers and plants, and always had a green thumb.  She kept Blue Bell Ice Cream in business, especially for Strawberry.  The grandchildren & great-grandchildren were her world and she loved them so much.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Charles Mitchell; granddaughter, Tiffany; daughter-in-law, Cindy; parents, Clyde & Rosa (West) Parker; sisters, Ozell, Magdalene, Barbara Ann; brothers, Charles, Ronnie; sisters-in-law, Madelene, Roxy; brothers-in-law, William, David, Pete, J.W. in-laws, Lois & Reba Mitchell.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Junior Mitchell (Donna), Rodney Mitchell (Dana), Brenda Lane (Joe), Kaye Hall (Marty); grandchildren, Jeremy, Drew, Korey, Casey, Chelsea, Katelyn, Issac, Mercedes, BreAnna, Cody, Devin, Paula, Pamela, Mason, Sarah; 24 great-grandchildren; siblings, Harold Parker (Emily), Oneal Parker (Connie), Gary Parker (Diane), Opalene (Eddie); sisters-in-law, Nell Pounders, Edna Haddock, Margaret Turner; and a host of nieces & nephews.

The visitation will 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Spry Memorial Chapel.  The funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Alan Compton speaking at the service.  The burial will be at Old Bethel Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Reese Bailey, Jeremy Lane, Drew Mitchell, Marty Hall, Korey Mitchell, and Benscil Greenhill.

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to Hospice of North Alabama, Jamie Lane, and to all who has visited, brought food, and have prayed for her during this time.

Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
