Sue Mitchell, 90, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in Huntsville, AL.
Sue grew up in Hayden, AL, with her sister, Caroline and parents, Henry and Ella Standridge, who ran a small country store and were active in the Methodist church next door.
She got her bachelor’s degree at Auburn University, married, and raised four children, in Huntsville, AL.
Always an avid reader, she went on to get her Master of Library Science at Vanderbilt University and worked as a research librarian at Huntsville Public Library for many years.
After retirement, she traveled the world with her dear husband, Royce E. Mitchell, who preceded her in death in 2013.
She is survived by her children, Rhett, Jennie, Mark, and Melissa Mitchell, as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
No memorial service is planned at her request. Tributes are welcome at the charity of your choice.
Sue will be remembered in our hearts as a wonderful mother and a very sweet soul.
