Sue Carlisle, age 91 of Goodlettsville, TN. beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
Sue was born in Perry County, TN. on January 16, 1932 and graduated from Linden High School.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Joelton and loved her Sunday school class.
Sue worked full time her entire adult life during an era when most women were stay at home moms. She worked for a tobacco company in Nashville after graduation and then worked many years as a payroll clerk for Avco Aerostructures before her retirement. Avco called her back to work twice after retirement. She had an amazing mind for numbers and math.
She was always there when anyone needed her. If any of her family asked for anything, especially food, she never said no.
Her full name was Ima Sue Cotham Carney Carlisle but she better not catch anyone calling her Ima.
She never traveled too far from home because she was her happiest being with her family. She loved her husband and only son and had so much joy watching the grandkids and great grandkids when they came to visit. She also loved eating Mexican food with her sister Joyce. Sue and German both traveled to see their only two grandchildren, Drew & Dani, play all the sports they were involved in, especially baseball, softball and football.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, James L. Cotham; mother, Lessie “Mae” Lawrence Gamblin; first husband, Robert Carney; and sister, Joyce Terry.
Survivors include her husband, German Carlisle; son, Steve (Sandy) Carney; sister,
Linda Arnold; grandchildren, Drew (Mattie) Carney and Dani (Koby) DuMont; great
grandchildren, John Parker DuMont, Baylor DuMont, Chandler DuMont, Tommy
Carney, Carlise Carney; nephews, Shane Arnold & Keith Terry; dear friends,
Martha & Joe Moore.
Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Wednesday,
February 15, 2023 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service
will be held at 1:00 PM conducted by Pastor David Royalty. The burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens.
