Four Way Inn – Site of parolee housing for lumber company
COLBERT COUNTY – The Quad Cities Daily reported on August 15 that the Alabama State Fire Marshall approved architect plans for the renovation of the 4 Way Inn at the intersection of Highways 43 and 72A. The renovation is to bring the property to the appropriate occupancy code so that Alabama State Prison parolees can live there. It is part of a plan by McKinney Lumber Company and McVantage Packing to house these former inmates so they can work at those companies which, for the most part, manufactures wooden pallets. Public interest is high to this controversial plan.

Alabama State Senator District 6 Dr. Larry Stutts
Alabama State Senator, Dr. Larry Stutts responded to the article in a letter to The Quad Cities Daily.
“August 16, 2018
I appreciate the diligence of everyone involved to follow the rules concerning the safety issues and the fire code compliance at the 4-Way Motel. The law is very clear concerning how and who is responsible for tracking and recording the location of registered sex offenders.
The McKinney family has a long record of being responsible citizens and a vital part of our community. I am confident that they will do their best to create a program and a use for this property that is successful and acceptable to their neighbors .
As I have stated before, in the short term this issue doesn’t have a legislative solution. We will not be back in session until March 2019. If additional laws are needed or current laws need to be changed, I am committed to that when I return to the State Senate next year. I will work with the local officials and the Department of Corrections to assure that community safety is not compromised.

Mr. Stutts you stated June 1st about working with McKinney on this issue. How is that going ? Mr. Marrow you and a few Colbert County Commissioners stated in your town hall meeting about presenting a amendment in November special session. Please tell us how is that going ?
