MONTGOMERY-Working with Gov. Kay Ivey, and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) director Kenneth Boswell, Sen. Larry Stutts has helped secure several Community Development Block Grants. The city of Cherokee received $314,000 for street and drainage improvements. The city of Hamilton received $450,000 for sewer, water, street, and drainage improvements. Lauderdale County received $202,569 for a new senior center.

“These grants help bring about many needed community improvement projects, and I was pleased to work with Governor Ivey and Kenneth Boswell in helping to secure these funds,” Senator Stutts stated.

Community Development Block Grants are awarded annually in a competitive process based on several factors–how many low and moderate-income families are affected, how pressing is the need, and how efficient is the project cost. ADECA administers the grants from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
