Steven Earl “Stebo” Thompson – Obituary

 Steven Earl ThompsonSteven Earl “Stebo” Thompson, of Florence, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the age of 69. His visitation will be Thursday, April 4 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. His funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Jerry Wayne Franks officiating. Burial will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery with full Military Honors.

Steven was a native of Colbert County, Alabama, a veteran of the United States Army and he retired from Hillshire Farms. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and an Alabama Football fan. Steven graduated from Cherokee Vocational High School, Class of 1968, he was a graduate of the University of North Alabama, and Jacksonville State University. Steven enjoyed cooking and will always be remembered for his Thanksgiving dinners. He was a very intelligent man and loved to share his wisdom.

Steven is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Thompson; brother, Allen Thompson; and his step-daughter, Gayla Whitehead.

Steven is survived by his wife, Joan Lambert Thompson; father, Charles H. Thompson (Marie); step-children, David Vollrath, Eddie Vollrath, Jenny Ann Venturi (Ric), Shirley Savage, Brian Kilburn (Melinda), and Callie Moore; his sisters, Janice Godfrey (Doug) and Lori Talley (Tim), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and good friends, Joey Isabell and Ronnie Holland.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Burgess, Josh Whitehead, Michael Lambert, Braden Kilburn, Eddie Vollrath, and Jonathan Mullin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ramon Lambert, David Vollrath, Joey Isabell and Ronnie Holland.
