Funeral service for Steven Arthur John, age 67, of Trinity, will be Sunday, January 30, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Orville Collins officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
Mr. John, who died Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born January 3, 1955, in California, to Cecil Henry John and Rosemary Bentson John. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. John served six years in the United States Navy. He never met a stranger and was known as a goofy prankster, wonderful cook, and experimental chef.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen John of Trinity; seven children, Barry John (Amanda) of Decatur, Catherine Matthews (A.J.) of Decatur, Elise John of Decatur, Lacy Mitchell (Mac) of Hillsboro, Shea Vest (Chris) of Danville, Haley Garcia (Luigi) of Decatur, and Jay Butler (Krystin) of Little Rock, AR; one sister, Melodee Kistner (Larry) of Highland, CA; six grandchildren, Katelyn John, Daniel Sansing, Elsie Vest, Lydia Vest, Marshall Vest, and Holland Mitchell; and nephew/niece, Adam Kistner and Emily Kistner.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
