Mr. Steve Young, age 66, of Bolivar, Tennesseeÿ&ÿ¶¬X'øqMr. Steve Young, age 66 of Bolivar, Tennessee departed this life Monday, April 7, 2014.

Mr. Young was born in Corinth, Mississippi August 4, 1947 to the late George Washington and Mabel Ophelia Hurst Young. On May 16, 1971, he was united in marriage to the former Connie Lax, who survives.

He lived in Hardeman County for most of his life and was an educator, retiring in 2012 after serving for 10 years as the Assistant Deputy Director of Hardeman County Schools. He was a member and Deacon at the Middleburg Baptist Church, where he also taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, taught children’s classes and did whatever needed to be done.

Known to many as “Coach Young,” he loved sports, especially basketball and golf. He also loved coaching football. Some of his favorite pastimes include cutting wood, mowing grass, traveling, helping people and playing with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his wife of nearly 43 years, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Anderson (Franklin) of Bolivar; two sons, Joseph Keith Young (Debbie) of Selmer, and David George Young of Bolivar; two sisters, Kay Alexander of Hayden Corner, Alabama, and Yvonne Johnson of Powder Springs, Georgia; and six grandchildren, Olivia Young, Samuel Young, Lily Anne Young, Wyatt Eugene Anderson, Abram Lee Anderson and Adeline Sue Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Kenneth Young and Don Young.

Donations made in memory of Mr. Young may be sent to the Middleburg Baptist Church.
