Funeral Services for Steve “Woodpile” Jones, age 66 of Ashland, will be Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist starting at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jason Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery.
Steve passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026. He grew up in and around Clay County and spent most of his time in the woods. “Woodpile” was a logger, a beekeeper, a gardener and an overall great outdoorsman. His greatest passion was his grandsons.
He is survived by wife, Barbara Shuram; four children, Jamie Ennis(James), Michael Jones(Brianna), Amanda Jones, and Adam Jones(Alys Winenger); mother, Gearl Jones; six grandchildren: Jared Jones, Noah Jones, Will Coats, Kinsley Coats, Harley Hadaway, and Nathan Hadaway; four brothers, Roger Jones(Lisa), Lynn Jones(Amanda), John Ervin Jones, and JJ Jones(Seretha); several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Jones; brother, Kenneth Jones.
Pallbearers will be Randall Haynes, Jeremiah Johnson, Bobby Campbell, Jimmy Campbell, James Ennis, Matthew Jones and Chris Jones.
Family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 on Wednesday before the service at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
