Mr. Sterling Eugene Simmons, age 82, of McMinnville, TN passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at his residence. He was born on February 05, 1944 in McMinnville, TN and was a member of Word of Life Church. He loved Mustangs cars and enjoyed racing them. Mr. Sterling was a family man and cherished the time spent with those he loved. He owned and operated Sonny’s Trading Post where he gained many friendships along the way. You were never a stranger to him when you walked into his store. He was dedicated in serving the country as he was in the U.S. Army. He is preceded in death by his parents Rufus Elmore Simmons and Nettie Lee Pendleton Marino, his sisters Sharon Brown, Rebecca Higgins, and Loyce Simmons, and brother John Marino.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Martha Simmons, children Rocky Lane (Candy) Simmons and Sonny Dale Simmons, grandchildren Sandy (Tim) Harris, Chelsea (Hunter) Eaves, and Tyler Lane (Winnie) Simmons, great grandchildren Isaiah Simmons, Adalaine Elizabeth Simmons, and Elexia Michelle Fleming, great-great grandchild Everett Byars, nieces Angie Childers and Cindy Lowery, and nephews Mark Higgins, Tim Higgins, Randy Higgins, Michael Higgins, and David Higgins,
Funeral service for Mr. Sterling Simmons is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 31, 2026 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Scottie Lawson will officiate. Interment will follow at Morrison Cemetery. Military grave rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 173 and V.F.W. Post 5064. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the service time at 2:00 P.M.
