Stephen “Steve” Louis Gray – Obituary

Stephen “Steve” Louis Gray, age 59, of Trussville, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 10, 2014. He was born in Florence, Alabama and moved to Birmingham to attend UAB. He graduated with a master’s degree in guidance and counseling and had a 25-year-career with the State of Alabama Disability Determination. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Trussville and a former deacon at South Roebuck Baptist Church. 

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Doris Frances Gray and James Carl Gray. 

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Bonny Cowden Gray; and son, Neal Gray; sister, Carleen Longshore(Jim); brother, Roy Gray (Mindy); and eight nephews. 

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel followed by a service in the chapel at noon today with burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Neal Gray, Brian Longshore, Tom Longshore, Logan Gray, Jake Doss, Bo Doss, Casey Doss, and Ted Arnau. Honorary pallbearers are Lendon Brookings, Phil Doss, Tripp Stallworth, and Sam Stallworth. 

Steve will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a devoted husband, loving father, and devout Christian. His perseverance was an encouragement to all who met him. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Steve’s memory to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home.
