Stephen Ray “Red” Walls, age 67, of Decherd, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Highpoint Health Systems in Winchester. He was born on April 16, 1959, in Winchester to the late Donnie Ray and Julia Ann (Gaines) Walls.

Red was a lifelong farmer whose life was deeply rooted in the land and the animals he cared for. Throughout the years, he worked in row crops and dairy farming, raised goats and game chickens, and enjoyed Tennessee Walking Horses.

When he wasn’t working on the farm, Red enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved squirrel and rabbit hunting, and on quiet evenings or rainy days, he could usually be found relaxing and watching a good Western. Above all, Red treasured his family. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose hardworking nature and love for his family will be deeply missed.

Red is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathy Walls; children, Jamie Walls, Stephanie (Bryan) Chapin, and Michele (Michael) Stephens; grandchildren, Savannah (Dalton) Adams, Colton McBee, Sadee Walls, and Harper Chapin; great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Adams; brothers, Tony (Beth) Walls and Corey (Tammy) Walls; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Services for Red will be held privately.

Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 1st Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, (931) 967-2222.
