Stephen Craig McMurryStephen Craig McMurry left the earth in the early morning of April 16, 2021 to ascend into Heaven to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to see his Mom. Known by his family and friends as Craig, he was born in Huntsville, Alabama and lived all of his life in the Huntsville and Madison area.

Craig was an avid cook and especially enjoyed cooking in his cast iron skillets which he collected from various sources. He could talk at length about various cast iron skillet manufacturers and how to care for and season them. Craig was a hard worker and well-liked by his coworkers and employers. He worked as a machine operator in the manufacturing industry. He was a champion of work ethic, spending 29 years with one employer, then about six years with his recent employer before passing.

As a boy, Craig participated in the YMCA Indian Guides program, was a Cub Scout, and played soccer. He was also especially fond of paint ball competitions. He followed Alabama college football and was a life-long fan. For a few seasons, he did some hunting on the family property with his brothers.

Craig married later in life and never had children, but he loved his siblings and their children. He was preceded in death by his mother, Waneta Brady McMurry; his maternal grandparents, Frank Brady and Ruth Exline Brady; his paternal grandparents, John J. McMurry and Cornell Fuqua McMurry; and finally, his paternal uncle, John C. McMurry and his maternal uncle, Carmel Eugene Brady.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky Dianne Beddingfield; father, Charles Otis McMurry; siblings, Derek Michael McMurry and wife, Chrystal, Suzanne McMurry Hartzell and husband, Jeff, and Russell Dale McMurry and wife, Jennifer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 19th at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville with a service to follow at noon. Burial will be at Weaver Cemetery in Rogersville, Alabama. Dr. Darryl Craft, Senior Pastor, and Rick Stone, Music and Worship Pastor, both from Whitesburg Baptist Church will be presiding.
