Stephan L. Hopkins, age 74, of Vernon, AL, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at NMMC-Gilmore in Amory, MS. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Detroit Church of Christ at 2:00pm with burial to follow in Friendship Cemetery. Garrett McDonald to officiate. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the funeral services from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.

Stephan was born on November 23, 1951 in Wurzburg, Germany to the late Joseph Raymond Hopkins and the late Mary Gloria Gage Hopkins. He attended various schools for his high school education and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Athens University in Athens, AL. Stephan joined the U.S. Navy where he honorably served a general tour. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He thoroughly enjoyed the children’s theatre in Hamilton, AL, where he directed plays. He also loved reading and taking care of his two dogs, Cooper and Harper. Stephan loved his family dearly and his kind and gentle spirit will forever be cherished in the hearts of his loved ones.
