Obituary of James Stanley PoseyStanley Posey was born on December 8, 1951. He passed on to his eternal home September 15, 2023, at the age of 71. His last breath was taken with his hand in the hand of his loving wife of 49 years, Cindy Posey.

Stanley’s life can be summed up in just a few words — son, husband, Dad, Papa, hard worker, loyal, friend and brother in Christ – but most importantly, he loved The Lord. He served as part-time minister of several churches – Vinemont church of Christ, Prospect church of Christ, doing appointment preaching at many area churches, and served as an elder at the Hwy 157 church of Christ and since 2015 as an elder at Hanceville church of Christ. He preached on the radio at times also.

Stanley was a doting Dad to his daughter Amanda (Jason) Nichols and son, the late Justin Posey, as well as Papa to his three grandchildren, Gabriela Claire, Michael James, and Josiah Matthew Nichols. They may not have lived in proximity, but they remained in his heart at all times, giving him and Cindy such joy.

Besides his wife Cindy, daughter Amanda, her husband Jason, and grandchildren, he is survived by his sisters Jane (Tony) Sellers, Alinda Perdue, Betty (Tim) Gregory, sisters-in-law Rosalind Posey and Jo Vinicki, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Stanley was pre-deceased by his parents, Odes and Agnes Posey, and his in-laws Herman and Mildred Tillery. Stanley and Cindy were devastated 29 years ago when their son Justin succumbed to a brain tumor complication, a saddle embolus. Again, when his only brother Sam, mild mannered like Stanley, there was much sadness. They could sit for hours reliving tales of their adventures as children and young adults, enjoying each other’s company immensely even though miles separated them. He was also pre-deceased by brothers-in-law Danny Perdue, Howard Blackwood, and John Vinicki.

Our dear friend Jeremy Paschall said it beautifully: ““Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on… that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them.” Revelation 14:13 Stanley now rests from his labors, his long illness, and the heartaches of his earthly sojourn. He has joined his beloved son Justin in “Abraham’s bosom” (Luke 16), comforted and awaiting “the resurrection of life” (John 5:29). “Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.” II Samuel 12:23.”

The family will receive friends at Moss Service Funeral Home on Sunday evening, September 17, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. The Celebration of Stanley’s life will be Monday, September 18, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Moss Service Funeral Home with burial to follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.

We appreciate every kindness shown to us.

God is good, and so are His people.

Much love,

Cindy, Amanda and Jason
