Mr. Stanley Gordon DeShazo, age 90, of the West Point Community in Morgan County, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. DeShazo was born on June 19, 1927 in Leeds, Alabama to John Louis DeShazo & Wilma Jane Jones DeShazo. Mr. DeShazo had lived in the West Point community since 1979. He served in the US Navy and retired from the Army Corps of Engineers. He loved Auburn Football and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of Pines Baptist Church.
Mr. DeShazo is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Diane L. DeShazo & Vincent Mendoza; Karen D. and Byron Anderson; grandchildren, Garrett Anderson, Makaio Mendoza, Heather Anderson; sister, Jane Mason; nieces, Rita Bolen, Rene Faulkner, Freda Rosenthall. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Louis “Buttercup” DeShazo; sisters, Stella Virginia DeShazo & Cary Lou Lee.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel with Bro. Travis Grayson, officiating. Additional funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, 2617 Eastern Valley Road, Leeds, Al. with Bro. James Blair, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel & Brindlee Mountain Chapel, directing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pines Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel.
