Stanley Earl Burton, age 62 of Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Donaldson Health Care Center in Fayetteville. He was born in Lincoln County on October 18, 1957. He had previously been employed in the office supply industry. Stanley had earned the honor of Eagle Scout and was a member of Farris Creek Lodge #509 in Lynchburg. An avid NASCAR fan (especially for Richard Petty 43), he enjoyed watching The Andy Griffith Show, Smokey the Bandit, and The Golden Girls. Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Huston L. Burton; and step-dad, David “Chicken” Cunningham. He is survived by his loving mother, Barbara Smith Cunningham of Lynchburg; brother, Scot (Alisa) Burton of Nashville; step-sister, Teena (Troy) McKenzie of Lynchburg; step-niece, Elizabeth Rodgers of Chapel Hill; step-nephew, Scott Fruhaff of Lynchburg; and family friend, Eric Fruhaff of Lynchburg. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lynchburg Cemetery.
