Stacie Thurner, 77 of Corinth departed this life on March 15, 2023 at Stoneridge of Farmington, following an extended illness.
Stacie was born July 10, 1948 at the US Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA. to Glenn and Minnie Sunderland. Her family settled in Jacksonville, NC. Stacie graduated from Jacksonville High School, where she met her husband, Lee. She attended Pfeiffer College and UNC Greensboro. She and Lee were wed in March 1996, beginning 57 years of marriage. They had a daughter and a son, and lived in Lakeland, Florida, where Stacie worked as a registered Nurse at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She also served as president of the Lakeland Junior Woman’s Club.
Relocating to Corinth in 2008, Stacie lent her kindness and empathy to the community, volunteering as a nurse for Legacy Hospice and later as part of Sharing Hearts, a caregiver respite minister, and Friendship Class, a First Presbyterian ministry supporting mentally challenged adults. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church.
Stacie is survived by her husband Lee, her daughter, Jennifer Moyer (Dean) of Franklin, TN. ; her son, David Thurner (Michelle of Lakeland, Fl.; her brother, Gary Sunderland of Surf City, NC.; her sister, Glenna Curran of Dallas, TX.; five grandchildren and six nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
