Stabbing In Hartselle results In 8-Year-Old Boy Dead; Man Injured

HARTSELLE-The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call around 5:30AM on Thursday morning, March 16 regarding a stabbing in the area of Village Drive near Hartselle.

After arriving at the residences officers found an 8-year-old boy dead from stab wounds and an adult man suffering a stab wound.  An adult female was taken into custody at the residence.

The male victim was taken by AirEvac to Huntsville Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Names have not been released to date as the investigation is still ongoing.

STATEMENT FROM MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’s OFFICE: 

 

Morgan County Investigators have arrested Jennifer Nicole Long, 41 of Hartselle. She is charged with Capital Murder in the stabbing death of her son, an 8yr old juvenile.

Long was transported to and booked in the Morgan County Jail. No Bond.

At approximately 5:30am a stabbing call was received by Morgan County 911. Morgan County Deputies responded to the scene on Village Dr near Hartselle, assisted by Priceville Police Department.

Once on scene, deputies located an adult male suffering from a stab wound and one deceased 8yr old boy. The adult was treated at the scene and transported to Huntsville Hospital by Air Evac.

One adult female was detained at the scene and is in custody.

Investigators, Sheriff Ron Puckett, Coroner Jeff Chunn, and District Attorney Scott Anderson were on scene.

Deputies responded to a murder scene involving a young child. Once the scene was secure we contacted our SRO team as well as the Morgan County Schools Superintendent and administration. They worked quickly to have resources available for the school affected by the loss of this student.
