Sonny (Thomas) T. Winters died at his home on 05/24/2025 in Maben, MS at 82 years old.

Sonny was preceded in death by his: wife Marylin Winters, parents JT and Marguerite Winters, and sister-in-law Debbie Winters.

Sonny is survived by: daughter and son in law Aprile and Tom Coker of Maben, grandchildren Josh Coker of Maben, Jake and Kaylee Coker of Caledonia, great grandson Steven Thomas Coker of Caledonia, brother and sister-in-law Steve and Stacy Winters of Grenada.

Sonny played football at Starkville High School where he graduated. He served in the Navy and got to see the world. Sonny worked for local businesses and farmed part-time. Later, he became and retired as a full-time farmer and rancher with cattle and horses. Sonny was a true cowboy having a love for horses, cattle, and rodeo. He participated in many competitions. Ultimately, he placed third in the Dixie National Open World Championship for Team Penning Mixed Doubles in 2000. He was an active member of Center Grove Baptist Church and a part-time honorary member of Self Creek Baptist Church with movie nights, bible studies, and fellowships.

His wishes were in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of McClain Winters who was cured of cancer to St. Jude Children’s Hospital PO Box 50 Memphis, TN 380101-9929.

Sonny was a father, grandfather, brother, and friend to so many. He will be greatly missed on this Earth but will spend eternity in his true home in heaven with the Lord.

Services will be held Friday May 30th, 2025 at Center Grove Baptist Church in Maben, Mississippi. Visitation is from 10:00 am. Service will begin at 11:00am. To celebrate Sonny’s authentic cowboy spirit, we encourage all attendees to embrace the theme by wearing blue jeans, hats, boots, and belt buckles.
