LEIGHTON-Leighton, Alabama, knows how to celebrate! With fewer than 700
residents, this charming Shoals area community is bursting with pride and a rich
musical heritage. One of its most cherished events is Sledgefest, a lively festival
honoring the legacy of music legend Percy Sledge. Join us in downtown Leighton
from June 7th to 9th for a weekend filled with music and fun.

Sledgefest kicks off on Friday, June 7th, at 6 PM with Amanda Brewer and Soulful
Swagger, promising an evening of great vibes. Saturday, June 8th, is Jimmy Hughes
Day! The music lineup is packed, starting at 3:30 PM with Studio 502, followed by
The Midnighters at 5 PM, The Pine Hill Haints at 6:30 PM, and Howell Sledge and
the Revue at 8 PM. Special guests Catara Brae and DJ JROC will keep the energy
high all day and night. Bring a chair and plan to spend the day—there will also be
food trucks, artisans, and vendors!

On Sunday, June 9th, the festival wraps up with a Gospel Afternoon at Galilee
Missionary Baptist Church. Special guests will fill the air with uplifting gospel music,
bringing a soulful end to an amazing weekend.

Sledgefest is more than a music festival—it’s a celebration of Leighton’s rich culture
and community spirit. During the festival, special events will include the Leighton
Farmer’s Market, Leighton Museum at Bank Independent, Leighton Public Library,
Women of the Shoals Gallery and Museum, and The History of Radio and Recorded
Sound.

Sledgefest is free and open to everyone, inviting you to experience the warm and
welcoming spirit of Leighton. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this festival
promises a weekend of music, culture, and community. Come celebrate the legacies of
Percy Sledge and Jimmy Hughes with us and see why Leighton is a town that knows
how to have a good time.
