ETOWAH COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident that has taken the lives of two people in Etowah County:
“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:25 p.m. Saturday, September 7, has claimed two lives.
James E. Dayries, 64, of Baker, La., was fatally injured when the 2023 GMC Box Truck he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Dayries and a passenger of the GMC, Mairi D. Scott, 72, of Knoxville, Tennessee were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Interstate 59 near the 195 mile marker, approximately 12 miles north of Attalla, in Etowah County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
