Sigrid Burke, 85, of Huntsville, passed away June 12, 2026. Born in Germersheim, Germany, she immigrated to the United States in 1959. She returned to Germany where she met her future husband, Hugh Burke while he was stationed there. They married in 1979 and she became a US citizen. After several moves between Germany and the U.S., Hugh’s military career moved them to Huntsville in 1995, where they remained.
Sigrid was preceded in death by her parents, Adolf and Lydia Kuttruff; son, John Svatek; sister, Ursula Sitter; and brother, Juergen Kuttruff.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Hugh Burke; daughter, Dianna Trang (Jeff); son, Yuri Burke (Petra); grandchildren, Katie Dunseith, Jason Svatek, Allen Trang, Amy Zuber, Aileen Fisher, and Samantha Burke; and seven great-grandchildren.
Sigrid was a talented artist, savvy businesswoman, Master gardener, and fabulous hostess. She was a devoted wife, caring daughter, and wonderful mother and grandmother. Sigrid was elegant and stunningly beautiful, turning heads wherever she went.
Due to her great love of animals, the family requests memorials be made to the Greater Huntsville Humane Society.
