Obituary of Sidnette Carlisle Service to celebrate the life of Sidnette Dendy Carlisle, 94, will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodland, MS.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until service time.

Sidnette passed away peacefully into Heaven on February 3, 2023 at Dogwood Assisted Living. She was born to William Sidney and Pearl Springer Dendy on April 21, 1928, in Woodland, Mississippi. She grew up as a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She graduated from Houston High School in Houston, Mississippi.

After briefly living in West Memphis, Arkansas, Sidnette raised her three children in Corinth, Mississippi. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Corinth, where she selflessly served in many capacities over the years: wedding director, greeter, nursery director, social director for the senior adults, and treasurer of her Sunday School class. Sidnette’s faith in Jesus was the most important aspect of her life.

Sidnette loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Mama Sid,” as her grandchildren affectionately called her, will always be remembered for her faith, her sense of humor and love of jokes, her love of cooking and impressive culinary skills, and her devotion to her family. Sidnette also enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, volunteering in the community, and spending time with her friends.

Sidnette was preceded in death by her parents and her three siblings, sister Mary Elizabeth Dendy Patch and brothers Derwood Dendy and Douglas Dendy. She is survived by her three children, Jan Carlisle Payne (Terry) of Corinth, MS; Frank Dendy Carlisle (Kim) of Jackson, MS; and Patti Carlisle Hurt of Corinth, MS; eight grandchildren, Bill Payne (Shanda), Lee Payne (Rachel), Jason Payne, Avery Carlisle Shannon (Seth), Claire Carlisle Winchester (Seth), Jonathan Hurt (Staci), Joseph Hurt (Emily), and Katie Hurt; and fourteen [recount after Henley is born] great-grandchildren.

Bro. Dennis Smith will officiate.

The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, Corinth Mississippi.
