FLORENCE-Shoals PrideFest is Florence, Alabama’s annual LGBTQ+ celebration, hosted by the Shoals Diversity Center and hosted by community partners. The community festival features a vendor market, local artists, food trucks, and live music. This fun event was held this past Saturday in Wilson Park…everyone was in a festive mood in spite of the scorching summer day.
The music was hot, The folks enjoing the festival were smiling and happy and the food was to die for. The Quad Cities Daily was on hand to capture the fun in the sun….enjoy!

Great coverage of Shoals PrideFest. WOW, so many great pictures that capture the fun and excitement of the day.
I’m the artist of the painting shown “Erasure”, and I just wanted to add this was an interactive exhibition where so many members of the community stopped and took time to write their experiences of erasure in the book provided to create a sense of release and solidarity. We raised our voices as one and it was beautiful to witness reactions from tears and hugs to a couple cackling as they wrote the ignorant comments they’d received that were honestly so silly they couldn’t stop laughing at them. There was joy and catharsis and so much shared between all who participated and the journal of Erasure will continue to travel with the painting wherever it’s displayed. I’m honored and humbled by the reception of my work and grateful to all who took a minute to experience it.
