Shoals Performing Arts Studio Celebrates Grand Opening In Florence

FLORENCE– On Wednesday, April 17 the Shoals Performing Arts Studio, located upstairs in the Shoals Theater on Seminary Street in Florence held a grand opening.  There was an open house and ribbon cutting to celebrate the event.  Friends and family attended to help with the celebration.

Now a little about Shoals Performing Arts Studio and Ginny Cain owner and operator:

“Ginny Cavin, owner and operator of S.P.A.S., has been an actress and singer for fifty years. A graduate of Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee, Ms. Cavin served as student choir director and voice coach for younger students; was voted “Wittiest” in her class; won honors for her acting and singing, ranked second in the state for Soprano in the Tennessee All-State Choir. She was featured in WHO’S WHO IN AMERICAN MUSIC STUDENTS 1978. She attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, with a major in Theatre and a minor in Classical Voice. Later, she attended Belmont University with a major in Classical Voice. She studied acting under Academy Award nominee, Sam Jaffe, who was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in “The Asphalt Jungle” and appeared in movies such as “Ben-Hur” and “The Day The Earth Stood Still.” She also studied acting under Tony and Obie nominee and television star, Orson Bean. Mr. Bean, a long-time panelist on “To Tell The Truth”, was a Tony award nominee for “Best Featured Actor in a Musical” in “Subways Are For Sleeping”. He also won an Obie for the musical, “Home Movies”, and has appeared in many television productions such as “Twilight Zone”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman”, “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”, “How I Met Your Mother”, and “Modern Family”. She studied film under Emmy award winner, Alan Dysert. She has performed with Grammy Award winners Dann Huff and Gordon Kennedy and worked at RCA’s Studio B. She has filmed many commercials and music videos – most recently in Damien Horne’s “Barbarians”, and is currently working as an actress and company manager for Orchard Street Productions with “Golda’s Balcony” North American Tour, as well as acting and managing the company’s productions of “The Book of Esther”, “The Jew Store”, and “Mary Todd Lincoln”. She was teaching in Nashville prior to moving to Florence in August 2017.

Ginny now offers private sessions and group classes for all ages in acting, vocal performance, speech, body movement, and musical theater.”
