Colbert Heights Elementary school is dedicated to building a competitive robotics program which will encourage and inspire students to pursue future careers in engineering. We are only in our second year to have a robotics team, but we have already won many awards and established ourselves as a school who has competitive robotics teams. We compete against other teams all across the state of Alabama. During our first year, our two teams qualified to compete at the State competition held in Auburn, AL. Due to the amount of interest in our robotics program from students in 5th and 6th grades, this year we were able to have three competition teams. All three teams made it to the State competition again this year. One of our teams qualified at the state competition to compete at the Worlds competition, which will be held in Louisville,
KY in April 2020.
While we have established ourselves as a competitive robotics program, we still have a lot to accomplish and wish to compete at the Worlds competition against teams from other countries. At Worlds, not only will we be representing our school and the state of Alabama, but also the United States. This opportunity will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students but we need assistance in providing this opportunity. We need your support financially to be able to attend Worlds.
Would you consider donating to the Colbert Heights Elementary Robotics Program, to help us achieve our mission? We greatly appreciate your donation, and it will be used to cover the registration fee, travel, lodging and meals for our students and coaches to attend the VEX IQ World Competition in Lousiville, KY. in April.
- Colbert Heights Elementary is a Title I school with over 70% free-reduced lunches.
- This is only our 2nd year to have a robotics program.
- In 2018-2019, we had 2 competition teams. Both teams earned a spot at the State tournament.
- In 2019-2020, we had 3 competition teams. All 3 earned a spot at the State tournament.
- The 3 robotics teams have competed 4 times this season.
- Team B placed 2nd in the teamwork challenge at State which earned them a spot at the World competition in Louisville, KY in April 2020.
- Team B placed 2nd out of 80+ teams at the State competition, earning the Teamwork Challenge Award.
- CHES Robotics Team B is the only school in Northwest Alabama that will be represented at Worlds.
- We have won several awards in the last few years. During this competition season, we have won the Excellence Award, the Teamwork Challenge Award and the Design Award.
Thank you so much for your consideration in helping us with this endeavor. – Amy Michael & Anna Phillips/ CHES Robotics Coaches
