FLORENCE-Held each year on the banks of the Tennessee River at McFarland Park, the Shoals Dragon Boat Festival invites you to join them this year for an exciting event. Participants of all ages, skill levels, and physiques can paddle, making it the ultimate team-building sport that requires synchronicity and finesse more than sheer power to succeed.
This year’s race will be held on Saturday, October 12 from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM at McFarland Park in Florence.
The Shoals Scholar Dollars initiative was developed and implemented by the Rotary Clubs of Florence and Greater Shoals in Northwest Alabama and proceeds from the Dragon Boat Racing will help fund this worthy cause.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Students who are interested in applying for a Shoals Scholar Dollars scholarship can contact their local school guidance counselor or call our office for more information. Eligible students must meet the following criteria:
* Have a C average in high school
* Have no major disciplinary actions
* Have an attendance record of 98%
* Be a US citizen
